Why do I call my practice a family dentistry? I call it a family dentistry because we're kind of centered on everybody. I spent a lot of time in a residency learning about geriatric dentistry, so I got to deal with a lot of people who were in the hospital and had hospital issues and medical issues, and not just dental issues but physical and health issues that made them sick and made them difficult to work on or made their lives difficult in general. Obviously, people like that have dental problems too, and so I spent a lot of time learning about that and how to deal with the geriatric population.
I would see baby boomers and our population is getting older, and so that's a must. Families are just who what we're about. We love kids. We love working on kids. We love working on moms and dads. Teenagers are great to play with. They may be a terror to mom and dad, but it's fun when teenagers come in and we get to play around with them and joke with them and tease them and give them a hard time. We enjoy all ages. We're set up for all ages.
I guess if we only had one group to work on, I don't know if I'd like that a whole lot. If I just had to work on kids only, I don't know if I'd like that because I'd miss out on all those other folks, all those other age years, and that would be sad. I don't think I'd enjoy that, but I love getting a variety of everybody in all ages and all and facets of life.
At Family Dental of Spokane Valley, we enjoy working with people of all ages, especially young patients. That’s why we offer family dentistry service for you and your family. Spokane Valley, WA dentist Dr. Craig Ellsworth has six children, and several members of his dental team are mothers and grandmothers. So they are not fazed by your child’s out-of-left-field questions or even a tear or two.
Our team enjoys educating your kids about good dental hygiene, whether it is demonstrating proper tooth brushing techniques or talking about how too much sugar isn’t good for their teeth.
And our Spokane Valley, WA dentist office is located on North Mullan Road near several schools, so it is easy to schedule dental appointments around school activities. Dental Sealants and Fluoride Varnish Protect Your Child’s Teeth
Your child’s dental exam can include two treatments designed to give them an extra edge in the battle against decay. Both treatments are simply brushed onto their teeth, so there is no discomfort. They can help cavity-prone adults as well.
- We can apply a fluoride varnish to help prevent cavities. The varnish goes on sticky but quickly dries.
- We can also apply thin plastic coatings on your child’s back teeth that help protect them from dental decay. Dr. Craig Ellsworth brushes on the clear sealants, then uses a special light to “cure” them.
In our Spokane Valley, WA dentist office, we use dental technology that will wow your children with its “cool” factor. Two tools that will impress them and give them something to tell their friends about:
- Intraoral camera. When Dr. Craig Ellsworth uses this handheld camera, your child will get an up-close look at their mouth.
- Digital X-ray machine. Your child will get another good look at their mouth with our machine that produces an instant and detailed image.
