Find Your Path To A Better Smile With Modern Orthodontic Options
You can use some of the best treatments available in cosmetic dentistry at our practice, including three modern orthodontic options. We’ll be happy work with you to find the solution you need to achieve your smile goals:
- Invisalign – This treatment was originally developed for adults, but it has been proven to be effective for teenage patients as well. Invisalign does not use traditional brackets and wires. Instead, you wear clear plastic aligners. This makes them discreet compared to braces. You change aligners each week or so. Each one gently pushes your teeth a little closer to their final positions. You will remove them during meals and while brushing and flossing, but you should keep them in 20 to 22 hours per day for the best results. The aligners themselves are easy to clean, too.
- ClearCorrect – This is similar to Invisalign in that this system also uses clear aligners that you wear 20 to 22 hours daily. Also like Invisalign, these aligners are taken out for eating and oral hygiene. If you are interested in understanding the differences between these systems, Dr. Craig Ellsworth will be happy to answer your questions.
- Six Month Smiles – Six Month Smiles are more similar to traditional braces, but they use clear brackets and tooth-colored wires. This treatment focuses on the teeth in the front of your smile. As a result, it can move those teeth with gentler pressure. It’s also why treatment typically takes no more than six months.
Take A Proactive Approach To Your Child’s Smile
Not long ago, the typical orthodontic treatment started when a child was 11 years old or a little older. The plan was to let all the permanent (adult) teeth come in, then move them into place. Sometimes all those teeth couldn’t emerge because of crowding. That sometimes meant tooth removal was necessary before orthodontic care could start.
Dr. Ellsworth prefers to start with an early screening around age 7. Many times, future problems can be anticipated while your child still has his or her primary teeth. Intervening at an early age can guide how permanent teeth erupt. That can reduce the need for tooth removal and make the actual treatment simpler when a child is older.
